RUMOURS LIGHTS DOWN

Pan-European trio RUMOURS muse on the complexities of modern love in their new single ‘Lights Down’, which “tells a story about balance, lust and sincerity.” Their downtempo electro-pop track sounds like the crosspoint between RITUAL, London Grammar and Majik. There’s a sultry R'n'B-pop flair throughout the deft beatwork, and it’s all topped off with smokey vocal harmonies outlining romantic frustration: “I need more than this.” Going into more detail, the band say that “We often find ourselves wanting more than what someone else is willing and able to give or the other way around.” These alt-pop atmospherics soundtracks the Hannah Berry George directed music video, which is drenched in visceral blue and red palettes, accentuating the contrast within an unbalanced relationship. ‘Lights Down’ might be RUMOURS' first single of the year, but with an upcoming show at London’s The Lexington on 15th June, we’re sure to hear more from this enigmatic outfit over the coming months. - Hannah Thacker
